RAHS Monthly Lecture: The KKK In Michigan During the 1920s

Michael Placco, professor of history at Macomb Community College, will discuss the rise of the KKK in Michigan during the 1920s. He will speak to the various concerns, fears, and attitudes in the US in a time that fostered the ascendancy of this large and very wealthy social movement - specifically the prevailing Anti-Semitism, Anti-Romanism, and other prejudices seen at the dawn of the 20th century. There will be a focus placed upon the groups’ spread in Michigan and the various reasons why the Great Lakes State became such a hotbed for what was then called “kluxing.”

This meeting is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
